About the artist

Carole was born in Los Angeles, but claims Pasadena, California as her home. She attended Brigham Young University in the "Fabulous Fifties" and loved every minute. She graduated with a BS degree in Zoology and a minor in Art, but learned that the requirements for being a medical illustrator were different than the courses that she had taken, so she continued her education a few years later at the University of New Mexico and obtained teaching credentials which enabled her to teach Science and Math at the Junior High School level.

Carole married Cornell Taylor of Boise, Idaho in 1957. They are the parents of eight children and have ten grandchildren. She isn't the most patient person in the world and since the nine months spent waiting for each child to arrive seemed to last "forever", she decided to learn a new craft or art-form with each one. It was during the development of the eighth baby that she took up calligraphy in a Community Education course in Eden Prairie, Minnesota as the result of prodding by a dear friend. (Thank you, Marcie).

Many years of experience and attendance at numerous seminars conducted by many of the "greats" in the field of calligraphy have helped her develop her own style. She has taught thousands of students and even wrote a book to be used as a syllabus in her class. She has added the "spark" of oriental watercolors to some of her latest work, but most of her pieces reflect the influence of ancient manuscripts.

The inspiration to use her abilities in "writing out" scriptures came in 1988, and she began doing them as a gifts for friends and relatives. She loves doing the scriptures and other inspirational quotes in calligraphy and is grateful for the talent that she has been given to develop.
